The Mercury (Hobart) Monday 19 December 1910
Mr. Stewart, the second engineer of the Tottenham, said he and other engineers saw what they believed to be bodies, and also a ship's bed, but the captain said they were fish. A rumour was circulated on the ship that they had better not say what they had seen.
One can understand that bodies might in some way have resembled fish, but a ship's bed resembling fish is a vast stretch of the imagination.
