THE SEARCH BY H.M.S. PANDORA.
The "Vital Mercury" gives the following account of the first cruise by theH.M.S. Pandora in search of the missingsteamer Waratah. The two cruisersHMS. Forte and Pandora left Durbanon 2nd August. The Pandora returnedon the 5th of August without being successful.
Before the cruisers left an agreement wascome to as to the areas to be searched. Tothe Pandora was allocated the area between long 23 and 32 E., roughly corresponding to that south of the coast betweenEast London and Durban, whilst the Fortesearched between long. 21 and 28 E. thiscarrying on the search to the neighborhoodof Cape St. Francis, while the Capetowntug, F. E. Puller, was despatched to theneighborhood of the Agulhas bank.
