LONDON GLOBE RESPONSE TO INQUIRY VERDICT.

Northern Territory Times and Gazette (Darwin, NT) Friday 3 March, 1911
THE MISSING WARATAH.
Feb. 24.
THE long inquiry by the Board of Trade into all the circumstances associated with the mysterious disappearance of the steamer Waratah whilst voyaging between Durban and Cape-town, has resulted in the Court finding:
(1) That the steamer Waratah wasproperly equipped and managed;
(2) that her cargo was properly stowed,and that the vessel undoubtedly hadsufficient stability lo render herseaworthy in all ordinary weather;
(3) that the vessel was lost in a stormwhilst voyaging from Durban to CapeTown, and the probabilities are thatshe was capsized.
Feb. 25.
The London Globe, commenting onthe Board of Trade inquiry, declaresemphatically that the fault whichbrought the missing steamer Waratahto her doom must have lain in somehidden defect in her construction, andthey argue that the verdict of theCourt of Inquiry represents in fact a most severe condemnation of the owners.

Hear, hear!
