Regret will be felt among bankers and business men at the death of Mr Hugh Thunburn Wilson at his home Pattenbringan, Heyington place, Toorak yesterdaymorning after a long illness. Mr Wilson was aged 81 years and was born at Tochneal, Scotland. He came to Australia as a young man in 1877, and entered theservice of the Union Bank. He joined the Royal Bank when it was established, and in 1905 became general manager. He retired in 1923. His wife was among those who perished when the steamer Waratah disappeared. Mr Wilson, a keen golfer, was one of the founders ofthe Metropolitan club, and he was also amember of the Royal Melbourne club.
The funeral will take place at the Melbourne Crematorium, Fawkner, this morning, at 11 o'clock. A service will be conducted by the Rev. John McKenzie, of Toorak. The arrangements are in the hands of A. A Sleight Pty. Ltd.
